Laser Dentistry for Kids

Laser Dentistry for Kids (the Benefits)

Laser dentistry is approved by the FDA for the treatment of cavities, gum lesions, or tongue tie. At Pediatric Dental Center, we understand that you want to make the best decisions for your child’s oral health. As such, we provide you with all the information you need to learn about the benefits of laser dentistry for treating your child’s oral issues.

Benefits of laser dentistry for kids include:

  • Less painful than using traditional cavity and gum disease treatments
  • Reduces the need for anesthesia - small children and infants can't safely handle higher amounts of anesthesia.
  • Minimizes the amount of bleeding and swelling by cauterizing the wound as it cuts
  • Helps pediatric patients recover faster
  • Doesn’t create the same disconcerting drilling sound
  • Can help save more of the healthy tooth during cavity treatment than a traditional dental drill
  • Minimally invasive treatments
  • Prevents infection
  • Time and cost savings

How laser dentistry works

Laser dentistry should only be performed by a qualified dentist, Dr. Corina Ramirez. The treatment involves the use of a laser to remove lesions on the gums or tongue-tie. In some cases, the treatment may also be used for strengthening tooth fillings in the repair for cavities.

Laser dentistry makes any procedure faster and more comfortable for children, who have trouble staying still for extended periods. Since the lasers are fast and accurate, pain is reduced to a minimum. No incisions are necessary, so you don’t have to be concerned about a long healing period or cuts that leave you susceptible to bacterial infection.

Please visit Pediatric Dental Center so Dr. Ramirez can see whether Laser Dentistry will work for your child.
